Kitchen Helpers

Here are some suggestions on things that could make your kitchen work and function better.

Go Green

I was introduced to Green Bags recently and they are fabulous at keeping fruits and veggies fresher longer. It's money well spent and money well saved. Each bag can be used 8 to 10 times.

Get Spicy

I found these to be my favorite because draw space is a hot commodity. By using your wall or fridge, it is a great way to gain valuable real-estate in the kitchen. They are much easier to open and use than some of the other tin lid options. You can use magnetic strips or square sheets to create you own wall design. I get lots of compliments on mine.

See Clearly

Don't get me wrong, I do have some plastic storage containers, but they are usually for guests to take home from a dinner party. Glass storage containers will last you forever and healthier to reheat your leftovers. These are microwavable, oven safe and you can store in the freezer too.

Save the Date

With food costs these days, this inexpensive food saver is a must for your kitchen. It's super easy to use and will help you keep your food fresher longer. You can confidently shop at Costco and stock up on your meats then divvy it up to use when needed. I also did this with a large bag of mozzarella. I just think this could extend your food enough to save you a few bucks. Those bucks add up and you can treat yourself to dinner out.

To Wrap or To Foil

I cannot stress enough how much I love this simple little box. It is so easy to use and keeps your drawer nice and tidy. Those individual foil and plastic cardboard containers get bent and can even draw blood if they get cranky. It's very important to measure your drawer before buying. This particular one fits my space perfectly. Don't worry they come in all shapes and sizes.

Save Me

I have always been a fan of an organized drawer in the kitchen, in case you couldn't tell. Having easy access to to zip lock bags at your fingertips is just so convenient and practical. Again, not every drawer is the same so measure! The only thing about this organizer is the portion size which I put snack size ones in it's space. It's not quite the right size but it still works just fine. The overall size was the perfect for my drawer and fit like a glove. You could also make a label for the portion size and turn it into space for chip clips or ties.
